Just received my HD650's. Im kinda disappointed. There is a fizz noise that is noticeable when the bass hits in the left can that can be heard when there isn't a lot going on in the music to mask the sound. They sound good most of the time. Should I send them back right away? Also my C2C is not near powerfull enough for these cans. I Had it clip a few times. I ordered a Woo Wa6. Now im wondering if I should have ordered the Wa6SE. Is the Wa6 going to have a lot more power than my C2C and give me the power I need?

Are they brand new?

I'd try them on a couple different sources to make sure the fizz noise is, in fact, coming from the headphones. Probably the best place to start.

As for the WA6, I've never owned one so I cannot help you there- I'm sorry.

i had a similar problem with a pair of cans and it was the lip of the driver coming into contact with the inner housing ... if it is indeed a mechanical issue then pop it open and check it out

If they're used, you should definitely take a look at the drivers. I know oftentimes a piece of hair can get stuck in there and mess with the sound.

Also, the C2C should be plenty powerful for the 650s, I would think. The Woo6 should be a nice upgrade, but I can't say whether it will be more powerful.

I have C-2c/HD650 and never really go above 10-11 on the dial. More than that and my ears start ringing.

Thanks for the replies. They are new 650's and the mp3's are 128 or above and I never have a problem with my D7000's. I think I'll probably return the 650's. I can turn my c2c almost up all they way and it doesn't hurt my ears. I have my hearing tested for work and it's perfect so I'm not going def but something doesn't seem right with them. My D7000's would kill me at near full volume.

ewww 128 kbps

Anyways, my HD650's do not clip without an amp (or ever, unless I make them) so it's probably the headphones.

Those things are bad, dude. Get a replacement.

Try a proper source - 128 kbps is an insult to HD 650s and is more suited to Skullcandies.

This is what I was thinking, and I'm sure this is the source of your clipping and hiss, but if you can really turn the volume up all the way without your ear drums exploding then it seems that the HD650 might be malfunctioning in another way. It would be good if you could:

1a) tell us whether you consider yourself a low, medium, or high volume listener, and
1b) get someone else who you consider a low volume listener to give them a listen and tell us what volume on the C2C is a good volume.
2) It would be helpful if you could rip a CD (preferably an older CD that is less likely to be subject to the loudness wars) into AT LEAST 320 kbps mp3, or better into lossless (FLAC, ALAC, etc) and see if that fixes your hiss and clipping.
