I just ordered the ATH-M50 headphones, I'm not really an audiophile, but i Stream ALAC To A USB 3.0 Audio Interface, To A 1/4 Cable adapter, to my headphones.

I was wondering 2 things. Are these good low end audiophile headphones? and how can i improve my setup?

Also my interface is the audiogram 3... is this a good interface?

Thank you.

Wrong sub-forum. Maybe ask a mod to move this to the full-size forum.

On topic, I just heard the M50 yesterday for the first time. Very pleasantly surprised. Really nice sound for the price (What is it, ~$110 on amazon? Great deal). Of course, others will chime in now saying how they are over-hyped and over-recommended and all that...

Isn't the Yamaha a recording interface? These are pretty efficient, so you should just enjoy what you have.

Are you looking for the best sound you can get in your budget and the amount of experience you have with audio? If you are then you are an audiophile, don't think that you have to get high end equipment or have to have a lot of experience to be one.
Yes, the m50s are good low end headphones. Like many, they were my first introduction into looking for good headphones. They do well with most music IMO, and are a great bang for the buck.
As for improving your setup, the m50s do very well with little power so an amp won't do all that much, but I might look into maybe getting a Fiio E17 and using it as a DAC and amp, it will bring out the most in them.
I have no experience with the Audiogram 3 so I cannot say one way or the other.
Hope you enjoy them, I certainly did :)
