Hey all, been a while since I've posted. Busy with graduation, traveling, etc. Good news is I'm done with school and about to have much more money to blow on stuff I don't need. But I digress.
So in school I worked in a music shop. One of the great things about jobs like that is employee discounts and all the free guitar strings and straps I could ever need. One of the things I picked up was a Lexicon Omega recording package (for $40 I might add). I've used it plenty of times for home recording and it always worked fine for that purpose, but I have only just re-discovered it as a way to listen to my tunes at my computer.
So far I'm liking what I'm hearing. It's far and away better than the little Sony DAP I take to the gym or listen to when I'm dozing off at night. Much more kick in the pants with my HD555's. This combination is also much more resolving than my Tivoli Model Two (those can bit a bit warm and bassy). This was a nice realization because I was beginning to do some more research into a new DAC/amp combo (hence my return to head-fi).
So does anyone else have any experience with this combination? I've only just started using it, but I'd like to hear about others' experiences.
edit: just looking over the product page, here's a couple juicy tidbits:
24-bit
Headphone Output (1) 1/4" stereo jack 100 mW per channel at 50 Ohms
Digital Audio Input Coaxial RCA (S/PDIF format)
Frequency Response +0, -0.2 dB 20 Hz - 20 kHz, ref. 1kHz
THD+N <.012% A/D, 20 Hz - 20 kHz, <.012% A/D/A, 20 Hz - 20 kHz
I wonder what kind of chips are in this bad mother.
