This probably doesn't deserve a threat but I have just been to the doctors and had my ears irrigated. I won't go into detail but a lot came out, and wow, what a difference. I am listening to my ER-4's and everything is so clear. I don't know what i have been missing. I didn't even know that they were really blocked until the nurse said they were. It's amazing how you get used to blocked ears and turn the music up loud to still hear muffled music.

Anyone who has any doubts should definitely get their ears checked. I can hear a pin drop now.

How much does that run you? I've wondered about getting that done for a while now.

I am 40. Never had it done before, I have always stuffed cotton buds in my ear but to be honest they don't work and it shouldn't be done. Seriously, syringing or irrigation is worth doing though, makes one hell of a difference.

I've also had this done, and the results are shocking. However, if you want to take the DIY route, you can buy "ear drops" at the pharmacy. It's some kind of chemical that dissolves earwax, letting you simply rinse it all out in the shower. Works quite well and it's cheap.

Eardrops do nothing for me. I just made an appointment for an ENT.

Ear drops irritates my ears and does nothing to my dry wax.

The use of water to flush the ear wax out will make make me dizzy and nauseous. I then sometimes get a minor ear infection after that. I have to use other means of removing ear wax.

Called around to Ear Nose and Throad doctors in NYC, none will clean my ears without consultation first. Basically, they could tell me my hearing is perfect, charge me for the consultation, and NOT give me an ear cleaning. *Sigh*

Ive had it done before once when I was young, doc just told me to bend my head over and he stuck a giant syringe with water in and squirted away and left water on the floor

I too have ear wax build up and I can personaly vouch
Try NOT to use cotton buds or Q-tips !

Cos ill tell you why.... ever been proding down your ear canal and enjoying it only too pull out the stick and wonder where the cotton bits gone?

I have, ended up @ docs/surgery and everyone had a big grin on there face

They sent me to a specialist in hospital and the guy used a small vacuum tube sucktion thingy and he pulled it out in a minute and then said u had some small hairs down both sides of your ear and he recommended be careful when having a hair cut. Guy left half the hairs in the other side he wasnt a good doc thats for sure !

Anyhow You may note I said TRY not to stick... Ive now upgraded to makeup removal cotton bud sticks... which dont fall off

I clicked on that link and without reading the text but just looking at the pictures, the first thing that came to mind was they wanted you to shake the can of Coke and then hold it up to your ear and let the carbonated soda blast out all the ear wax!

I've had my ears cleaned with those syringes before and it works well. The price that this company is asking for seems excessive, though. That's a lot of money for some plastic (ha ha.. some people say the same thing about headphones, I'm sure).
