I am a newbie who just bought my first set of cans. Haven't even listened to them yet.

However, have seen various posts mentioning something like "make sure to burn-in."


Therefore...would appreciate any thoughts on this?

I wouldn't worry about it. Just use them as per normal; they'll get "burned-in" through normal usage just fine. It's likely any sound changes will be very minor, anyway.

burn them in...my phones took 50-100 hours then they were incredibly better. its all relative though...

I couldn't handle the bass on these phones, but I'm not a basshead.

Yes, with a few days of burn there sound improves considerably.
The bass becomes more tight and impactful.
Except for the mids, their overall sound is very little like other AKG headphones.

my advice, don't think about it to much, leave them playing for a few days and listen to them when you want to. After a week of continuous play i'd assume that's what you're gonna get.
