They still need a good amount of burning in, but they already sound SO much better than my MS1. Now all I need is some cpads

The only thing I can figure is that they are polishing marks, because they do not want to come off, but they don't really bother me.

With a few hours of listening so far I have found that I really do not like the bowls. I really like the extra airyness and soundstage but I like the bass with the 414 pads a lot better

I know that using the 414 pads does kill the soundstage, but that is one of the reason that I stuck with Grado is their lack of soundstage. To me the Ms2 with 414 pads sounds almost just lke my MS1, just so much more refined. The bass goes so much deeper and there is just the added layer of detail in the highend that I really liked from the A900LTD. Right now they are still burning in and I really haven't had that much time with them so far so I will post complete impressions later.

But now, more pictures....

I think they should wear the bowls for modeling and just use the 414's to be comfy at home...

Regardless, I want.

Dunno - I tried my MS2is with 414 pads and I think they do look quite cool in the flesh. Went back to the bowls because I'm a bowl man.
Thanks for the pics and enjoy the headphones!
Edit - just noticed you haven't reversed the 414 pads...they look much cooler reversed

Correct the MS2/i has the smaller leather headband. Although there were some SR325i released with the thicker RS1/2 band. I have never seen an MS2/i with the RS1/2 band.

NICE PICS!! Enjoy them.

they originally have the narrower headband. As told by Grado, there was a shortage of that headband from the supplier and in order to keep up with the sales they temporarily substituted the headband with the RS-1 headband for a few months. The Ms2i that I received some time ago had the RS-1 headband on it.

So far we know the MS-2i comes with two oddball variants then - the one with the RS-1 headband, and the "Black Grilles" version-

Other odd one-offs seem to be the PS-1s with the Freesystems logo still imprinted on it, and of course the legendary Joe Grado Prestige line of cans that have HP1000 drivers in them for some reason, hehe.

I like the idea of the wider headband, but don't think so much of the black grill look.
