congrats, the 325i's were (are) my first grados too, and i'm very pleased with them. strangely, though, I never even noticed the pads smellet. I just smelled them, though, and they sure do stink... and for some reason, I don't mind at all

Congratulations!!! I too just recently got my first pair of Grado/’real” headphones (SR-225’s). Just wait; in a couple hundred hours of burn-in, you won’t want to take them off your head!

And I did notice the smell also. I think it’s from the foam packaging in the box. It smells kind of minty actually, but it doesn’t really bother me

. I think there is actually an entire thread here about the smell. Look here. My bowl pads don’t smell anymore though, yours will air out eventually.
