slower transfers yes but not by much and thats hardly something to get hung up on since you only do it once, and if your just sending over a couple of files who cares if it takes 2 seconds vs. 4. both hang up but the micro is more prone to it, i havent had mine hang up in about 2 months so dont worry about that. the buttons couldnt possibly get cheap after extended use because there is no mechanism to them, its a touch pad. thats like a computer mouse pad wearing out. less accessories on the other hand is very true. but there are more coming out every month. the only accessory that you really need for the micro is a case. while there isnt one out yet you can make your own one with an altoids tin, its really funny to see people react to you listening to mints.

Uploading is faster, downloading is slower, this is common for HDD mp3 player coz PC HDD faster than mp3 HDD.

Button wise, as mentioned in my previous post, the sensitivity is acceptable when you had the Headphone plug into the Zen Micro.

Sound quality wise, my personal impression based on a short timing, Zen Micro win out iPod mini. Anyway, if I had the chance again, I will take a more detail listening to iPod mini.

Just got my Zen Micro in the mail. This thing is so small, so much smaller than I expected. Been fiddling around with it, I've noticed the interface has been greatly improved from the Zen Touch interface, especially with the 'Options' button. The touchpad is slightly different, although it took me 2 minutes to get used to it. Its charging now, the blue pulsating glow is awesome! Pics will be posted in the Pics thread soon.

Has anyone noticed how realistic the sound that the computer makes when you plug the Micro into the USB port is? At first, I thought it was coming out of my headphones.

Using RW to restart a song also sometimes requires the hard drive to spin up, even if the buffer should still have that data in it. So, the device seems to really lag sometimes, and I get annoyed, mainly because the iPod and iPod mini I have/had are more responsive in terms of buffering, pausing/un-pausing, and rewinding to restart a song - all of which I tend to do often. - [no flames please] It doesn't work with iTunes. CMS sucks and I've stopped using it. I use Explorer, but even then it's not as easy as iTunes. With the iPod mini, I sync a single playlist titled "Library", which contained all the songs I wanted. If there were new songs I wanted, I simply dragged it over from the iTunes library to the playlist. If the playlist was too big, I'd easily delete groups of songs at once to make space. With the Zen Micro, it takes much more effort to find music to delete to make room for adding new songs. I haven't found an easier way to manage the Zen Micro. But I would still buy the Zen Micro over the iPod mini any day. 1GB extra space, radio if I ever need it, much better screen, smaller text so more info is displayed, looks and feels good. That said, I will be getting a 1GB iPod Shuffle next week and may sell the Zen Micro after that. I dropped out of grad school this month and so my listening habits have changed. I now only listen to my Zen Micro maybe 20 mins a day going to and from work. During that time, I find myself listening to just a few singles or songs over and over day after day. Having 5GB is either overkill or not enough, in that I listen only to a few songs, or I want to listen to a song but it's not on there because I didn't load it because changing the music on there is such a hassle. So any flash player would better fit my needs of listening to a few favorite songs, in playlist or random order. I do like the built-in rechargable battery, I hate having to separately recharge batteries, so that's what's most appealing about the shuffle. And I admit using iTunes to manage a constantly changing playlist of songs to put on the shuffle is easy. I'd be reluctant to let go of the Zen Micro because it's a great device, but it no longer fits my usage.

Unbelieveable, you inspired me to get the Zen Micro - and I got silver for that matter...(sobs)but that said, sometimes I consider getting an iPod too (the U2 one especially) but then when I think about the lack of WMA, and the hassle of converting everything to AAC (although you can use MP3) it puts me off. Why go for a Mini or a Shuffle? Why???

Awww, I'm sorry. The Micro is still a great player, just as spectacular now as I originally wrote about. I wouldn't hesitate too much to buy it again if I had a need for it.

How does continuous scrolling work? Instead of going up and down, up and down etc when I wanna scroll all the way down, can I somehow just hold my finger at the bottom and get it to scroll down by itself?

After you scroll all the way down and hold your finger at the bottom, it will scroll down by itself.

Make sure your finger is touching the top or bottom ridge (not just the top or bottom part of the flat area) for the auto-scrolling tp work.
