At first listen they sound pretty good. I do not have an amp yet, so I am excited when my compass comes next week.

Just to quench my curiousity, what will the improvements be with an amp?

Tighter bass and separation of instruments along with plain tightening of the sound. Usually smooths out places in the headphone. I know a properly amped DT770 sounds smoother than a unamped one.
