Also give your brain time to adjust to a more accurate presentation of music from the Denons. It's been about 2 years since I heard the V-moda Vibes, but I do remember they had pretty flabby, sloppy bass.

I haven't heard those Denons either, but I am certain you just need to get used to their much more accurate sound signature -- it's probably much closer to what the original source sounds like.

Yes, the Vibes do have sloppy bass but are louder in that department. Quantity over quality.

I guess what I am looking for is quantity AND quality. Anyone heard the SuperFi 5 EBs?

The EBs are definitely in the "quantity over quality" department.

You have a bit of a choice, here. You can have accurate bass presentation, or loud bass presentation, not both.. Accurate phones will present bass as loud as presented in the recording, no louder.

Most "boomy" bass phones have exaggerated midbass. Compared to these, a phone with very good bass extension, but a flat (and accurate) bass curve will sound tame. Even though the phones are faithful to the recording, they sound timid because that "bump" is gone.

I am in the same exact boat my friend, I received my C751's today from amazon. I have to say that I am impressed with everything but the bass is not as punchy as I would like it to be. I think that I have achieved the best seal possible the stock tips, I would like to try the comply tips I really believe that they could be improved upon. Overall I am going to wait till after burn in to really judge the phones, but lets just put it this way, I would be *PISSED* if I shelled out $200 for these. I feel like I overpaid buying them for $75.

I personally find the bass to be about spot on with these, although having come from the likes of the Denon c710, JVC FX500 and Klipsch Image X10 I can see why some people may find them lacking...

IMO only the JVCs offer deep(er) but still accurate bass, but they have sucked out miss by comparison... All depends on your preferred styles and genres

Oldson has the ultimate answer =)

I mod'd my 751 with shure A910 foamies and it gave some awesome sound quality in terms of impact from bass, good balanced mid, although i found the treble slightly less satisfying for my personal taste..

I had a good 2 weeks of burnin with constant uses..
(stock tips it a massive screwup despite i lost the accessory pack within the second day of getting the 751s..)

I am quite suprised you didnt find the quantity of bass enough though!
maybe invest in an e5 amplifier with bass boost?
(anyone else thinks?)

I am now with SE530 tho...and loving it
