Just got this compact amp and I was supposed to use it with my JBL control speakers. However, I couldn't believe it has very good headphone out.

Regarding sound stage : All I can say is surprisingly wide. Wider than my old RA-1. The vocal is warm and i can hear every single note nice clearly.

The amp is full of POWER and I think it can drive AKG 501 nicely as well. Right now, I turn the output knob to 9 oclock position

BTW, can you see its beautiful front panel ? Well done Yamaha !

Haha, that thing is so old school. I love the VU meters though but the "buttcrack" edge design is odd...

supposedly a lot of their older (mid-late 80s) preamps also have good headphone circuits.

Now i mus search for it. Its small and efficient and probably
cheap at pawnshops.

Word of advice for people seeing things on ebay.
Dont advertise to the world its available if you wnat to pay 5x more
than you could an obscure item. IF you seee it, keep it to yourself!

I have gotten many things on one bid only due to obscurity
hehe cheap0 40 dollar 21 inch monitor lol.

EDIT: So you have a CD player hooked up to it or what?
