Doing some looking on the internet it seems the 6922 and ECC8 are compatible. However I can't find if either of these are supposed to be compatible with the EZ80 that the amp is actually supposed to have. Could that be the problem?

The EZ80/6V4 is a full-wave rectifier while the ECC88/6DJ8 is a double triode. They are not compatible at all!
The E88CC/6922 is a very close relative of the ECC88/6DJ8 and can replace it.

Yeah, as Oskari said. You can't sub a 6922 for an EZ80. Is that what you did and that's when you got the noise? Oh boy...I'm not even sure what'll happen there.

I subbed out the Tesla ECC88 for the 6922 that was in there and the problem has completely resolved and the amp sound great. So now what I have in is:
in my experience, i would say that in general a "hum" is the result of some type of grounding issue or noise caused by a component and "static" is a tube issue.
I'm glad you fixed the problem. But also noise and static can be caused by fluorescent lights and refrigerators that are on the same circuit. It's best to avoid putting audio equipment on that circuit.

Yeah, this is very worrisome - if the amp is actually designed for the EZ80 still, putting a 6922/E88CC in there instead could be disaster. You should really call Jack and make sure that the amp topology actually changes to allow this.
The current WA4 certainly still uses the EZ80 rectifier tube.
The change was to the rectifier, not the driver tubes. The EZ80 replaced the 6X4 rectifier, not the 6922. Do not under any circumstances replace an EZ80, with a 6922, or visa versa. It would probably fry your amp
Just to clear my post up in reference to the 6922 & EZ80.
Holland advised that you can't sub a 6922 for an EZ80. Of course this is correct. The OP advised that there are no EZ80s in the batch he received with his amp. The OP would have never found EZ80s in that batch because HIS WA4 does not use the EZ80.
Older WA4- 2X 6C19
2X ECC82
2X 6922
Newer WA4- 2X 6C19
2X ECC82
2X EZ80
The newer WA4 does not use the 6922. Instead, the EZ80 has been implemented.
I apologize for the confusion. The above is what I was trying to convey. The two links I posted are of the older and newer models where the difference is evident.
Yes, Glenn that is correct, the WA2 no longer uses the 6X4 is has been replaced with the EZ80.

Agreed....I know the 4TH of July just passed and I'm sure we all kept our fireworks outdoors...
Odd - so the old WA4 used 6922's (which are a dual-triode and NOT a rectifier tube), and in the new WA4 they went away from the 6922 and now use a rectifier tube instead? That would be a major change, but it does seem that is what Woo did.

The amp in that last link is actually the one I'm currently in possession of. I'm still concerned one of the 6C19 tubes might be bad because before the static changed channels when I swapped the tubes. I'm going to try and get all of the tubes checked if I can.
I also emailed Jack to confirm that the arrangement of tubes I have is the correct one.
I have to say though it sounds pretty darn great. It's a shame because according to Jack the WA4 is now discontinued even though it's still listed on their web page.
