Hi all

I just picked up Billy Joel's "Ultimate Collection" cd at my local used cd store. I am so in love!

Just wanted to know if there are any others who share my newfound love and could recommend some of his other "essential" albums?

Also if you think that there is something similar I should check out, feel free to post your recommendations.

Much appreciated

He's done some amazing albums but for my money his pinnacle would absolutely have to be the Stranger. It was clearly his breakthrough album which launched him into the stratosphere and there isn't a stiff on it. Check it out if you can!

Yup. And to me, he'd written most of his best ones by the mid-'80s. Greatest Hits is probably the way to go.

Full disclosure: I'm not really a fan, primarily because I grew up near where he did—Long Island, NY. You have to be from there to appreciate how Billy Joel-overkill might make someone homicidal.
