The fisher doesn't come with 12AX7 and 7591 tubes, but it does come with the wood case(LOL). HELP, ME PLEASE! How much CASH do I need to get it working? Thank You, from an IDIOT!
The best place for the knowledgable crowd on vintage audio would be AudioKarma.org. http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/index.php. Nice group of people who can point you in the right direction to get Fisher fixed.
Like any vintage tube equipment, you should replace all coupling caps, especially the ones that run at high voltage. These develop DC leaks and many times you can measure DC on the grid of a tube which should be at ground potential. Not a good thing for the tube and definitely not good for sound quality!
Tubes are common enough. Sovtek are the cheaper Russian ones and the Chinese still make them as well. A lot of people prefer the sopund of NOS ( New Old Stock ) ones from US, UK and German compaines like RCA, GEC, Mullard, Telefunken..etc
A service is definitely a good idea. At the very least get it checked out by a competent electrician before you turn it on as these things can have dangerous voltages and powering on straight from the mains without at least a variac can damage parts which are less easy to replace like the transformers.

From what I've read on audioasylum, he has become quite unreliable, so should be avoided (if you can even find him... kinda like Carlo and the Melos mods here from a few years ago).
