I just bought the hd 555 from ebay for $106 shipped (I wanted the 595 but dont have the money). I currently have the Grado SR60 and my ears hurt after about 15 minutes even on low volume levels. After looking around the forums I thought the hd 555 would be a good choice for a new pair of headphones. How does the detail and instrument separation of th 555 unamped compare to the SR60? Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldnt find any answers on the forums.

i just got these as my first 'good' headphones, and they sound great to me - guess i dont have good ears, or i just know nothing abt headphones. anyway, they've barely been off my head since i got them. i've read that they;re not great for hip hop, but they sound awesome compared to the ibuds, and frank sinatra sounds great, as does the rock i listen to. listening to classical music, though, that actually sent a chill down my spine.
