Just bought some e2c, on a scale of 1-10, how bad was this decision?

I might have been able to get a pair of KC3 instead, I just want to know whether this is something i should regret.

I'm thinking I'll wait for the KC3 to drop in price, or a new product to fill its spot

I'm just curious as to how much better the KC3 are than the e2c

Not a bad headphone to start off on. That's what I started on.

Keep it and listen to it for half a year or a few months to explore the sound. Afterwards you'll have a better idea on what you would want to upgrade to. Make sure you get a good seal and they will really shine.

I highly doubt the custom 3 price will drop at any time. They are already pretty cheap at 120-150 or whatever it is on ebay.

I meant like a year from now, but as long as not fighting for the KC3 wasn't terribly stupid, i'm fine

my post was regardless of how long you waited. even in a year i doubt it would go down much if at all.

alright, either way, I'm curious as to how significant the difference in sound quality is.

The Kilpsch Custom line has been discontinued.  If you're interested in the Custom 3, I'd suggest getting it in the near future.  Then again, the e2c has been discontinued for quite some time now, but you can still buy them.

Also, I thought the e2c was a great sounding earphone when I had it.  Just take extra care of the cable, I developed shorts in two different cables.

The Custom 3's are miles ahead of the E2C. Back when I owned them, the C3's outperformed even the Shure SE530 to my ears - they really are a steal at the current $150ish price. That is, if you're ok with being really careful with its fragile cable and headphone jack.

Another one who started with e2cs.  I enjoyed them for 2+ years I used them.  I think you can just about kill yourself with indecision worrying whether there is something out there that sounds better.  Of course there is.  But I would just listen to them and see how you like the sound.
