Yes both are average drummers.

John Bonham by far has to be in top 5 in my book, along with greats such as Keith Moon, Neil Peart,Ginger Baker, Carl Palmer.

Lars Ulrich struggles to make top 50. Not bad, but nowhere near Bonham.

This is an interesting poll and yet it was still very easy for me to vote. I voted for Bonham. Few bands are as defined by their drummer quite as much as Led Zeppelin was.....the only bands I can think of that rival this occurrence are The Who and Rush. Even then I think Bonham would win against the signature artistry of Keith and the technical wizardry of Neil. When great drummers of rock are discussed Lars comes up so much less frequent than Bonham. The reason for this is simple.........Bonham is one of the most well-matched musicians to his band, maybe THE MOST. And aside from that he is probably a more interesting drummer than Ulrich ever can be. But Lars does a great job for Metallica.
