Soooo, John, do you have more of the Kurogaki wood if we wanted to send ours in to get upgraded? Or not an option?

As good as the new wood looks, I am completely satisfied with my African Blackwood Burl earcups. They all are pretty nice looking.

John was kind enough to send me a pair of his new pads for the XTC2’s to try out. I have been using the fuzzy pads, which I love. The new ones are quite a bit thicker moving the driver further off your ear and with more volume inside the pad. The effect is not subtle in my case. It in essence lowers the noise floor with all the associated effects - more of everything to put it simply. I ordered a second pair for my other XTC2’s. Now John just needs to do a fuzzy version! Do give them a shot - who knew pads can make such a diff.

I've been rocking the new pads on my XTC2 opens for the last few days and agree with your impressions above. Awesome stuff!

Got them on. Same effect but whereas the first pair is tuned Wolf Hawk these have defined bass with enhanced detail so the bass is cranked up a little compared to the first pair. On the Wolf Hawk tuning the additional clarity and detail was immediately noticeable. With this pair it is the deeper yet more defined bass that strikes you immediately. Pretty cool!

Ive got a pair of XTC2 with the biowool driver. A wild deep thick very detailed experience unlike anything I’ve ever heard. When deciding what driver to use, John told me the biowool sounds like being wrapped in a blanket of music and he was correct. Very responsive to different sources. In certain sources 3D soundstage like I’ve never heard. I just ordered a pair of warm and bright beryllium driver XTC2 to pair with it. Super excited. I’ve been looking to find a mate for the biowools and I have some amazing headphones but they really to stand on their own little island so I figured the best move is to just go back to the source and I’m way happy I didn’t

Second hand XTC 1.5's arrived today. These sound very good, they actually remind me of the Aeolus in it's presentation, with a very close if not equal depth to it. Great first impression for my first closed back headphone ever. Looking forward to the XTC 2.0, which arrives next Tuesday.
