Aw man, what an awful experience. I live in the CA foothills and live with that fear all the time. I guess the good news is that your animals were saved.
Insurance may cover your other possessions, but your furry friends are hard to replace.

Now John should have a new selling point for his cases. It's great the XTCs were saved. Hope you have something to listen to them with at your hotel.

Good luck on starting over.

So, my house burned down on July 8th. Brody, my border collie came and woke me up. I rolled over thinking she just wanted to pee and she usually gives me about 20 more minutes to snooze before she gets pissed off. This time she came around to the other side of the bed and literally punched me in the face. I smelled something strange and walked into the living room. The kitchen was on fire. Not huge but huge enough to panic like hell. I ran outside and filled up a bucket of water and by the time I ran back in it had tripled in size. The smoke was black and thick and the heat was getting really bad. So at this point we turned to getting our animals out. 4 dogs and 3 cats.

We got three dogs and one cat out. But Blue (Bernadoodle) and two cats were still in the house. Blue would NOT come to us despite our pleas and sobs. Alex went back in three times to try to find her but by then the smoke was so thick you couldn’t see a foot in front of you. The heat was terrible and we were coughing badly. So we took the ones we got out into the yard and waited for the fire department. For 20 minutes we waited while our sweet babies were in that hell. I was 100% sure they would all die.

The fireman got there and shortly after one of them came out with Blue and she was ok! Next thing we know another firemen has both cats under his arms! It was the worst and most horrible helplessness I’ve ever even through waiting for that fire engine. But everyone made it out and were all ok. Insurance has me and Alex in a hotel that takes dogs and the cats are being boarded at a cat only facility.

We’re looking for a place to live and we’ve lost everything so we’re kind of at the beginning of starting our lives over,

The reason I post this here is that one of the only things that survived the fire, soot, smoke and water were my XTC open back biowool because they were in that badass case John ships them in! Not even a hint of smoke got to them. I was very thankful to have a wonderful headphone in the hotel that first night. Bravo John on your amazing shipping game!
Vikinguy,

Very very sorry to hear of this tragedy but happy to hear you have all of your furry friends with you. What amp/dac are you listening to your biowool XTC’s on currently?

Just read your review on the xtc and saw you talking ab the 2.5 at the end so here are my thoughts on it. I have the xtc 2.5 and I believe I’m also the first person to own it and lemme tell you in just a quick sentence, it is head and shoulders better in every way than every headphone I’ve PERSONALLY used; and I’ve used the hd600 and 650, Beyerdynamic dt 900 prox, ether cx, nectar ambrosia, audeze maxwell, and ksc75x, and mannnn these are easily the most comfy and best fitting headphones by far!! And literally ever. Single. Genre. Sounds absolutely sublime! The dynamics and punch and slam make anything you listen to, whether it be music, games, movies, etc., so damn immersive, and not to mention the fact that these are the most natural sounding headphones too! And with the amphitheater cuts in the headphone and the fractal mesh these sound HUGEEE like as if you were in a massive opera house, but that doesn’t hurt the imaging, instrument separation, or detail of the headphone. Everything is where the engineer intended it to be and nothing every gets in the way of each other; so these definitely would be amazing headphones for mixing and engineering because it definitely reveals any flaws ur music may or may not have, but these reveal them to you in a way that is never fatiguing, no, instead these are genuinely super addicting headphones with their sound, especially bass and sub bass oouuu that’s fantastic lemme tell ya! Real hard hitting even the sub bass but never intrudes on the other frequencies, it just perfectly compliments them! These definitely deserve the name xtc(ecstasy) bc when you’re wearing them that’s all you feel!! And if you can save up the money for them I highly highly recommend getting them!

I like your enthusiasm... It will be an interesting comparison in deed. I live close to a dealer where i will be able to compare against the likes of the Utopia, 800S, Grado, Audeze etc. I purchased Audeze and Focal headphones so they let me play. Also, trying to get my hands on the ZMF Caldera. My buddy has Stax L700 Mk II and my Hifiman Jade. We'll see...

If you do compare the xtc 2.5 to those headphones I’d love to hear ur thoughts on it since I’ve never had the luxury of listening to those awesome and unfortunately really expensive headphones lmao

Can anyone tell me which of the closed-backs is going to have the strongest, most impactful bass? 1 vs 1.5 vs 2? Thanks!
The bass is adjustable in your customized tuning- The XTC-O and XTC-C - any version can be specified to add bass similarity- so no one has more than the other - I hope this helps - JM

@vikinguy man what a story. I seriously had a hard time reading it. But I am beyond thankful your loved animals (and more importantly human family) got out and survived). Your dog really is a hero.
