Well I had an original xtc and xtc-c 1.5. I gave the XTC to my brother in law as a gift and decided that I wanted to go all in on my favorite closed back (Kennerton Rognir planar) and so I sold the 1.5.

Well with all the goings on in Russia I decided having Kennerton (I had 2) was not a good idea for various obvious reasons. I sold both of my Kennertons. It was obvious what to get to replace them though. Ordered the 2.5 and will wait for the new upcoming upgrades in October.

I will pair the Austrian Audio Composer with the 2.5 for a decent combo. I am very much into 2 channel and just dont need more than this. I like the idea of my main rig (read the signature as it is too much to type out LOL) being able to power both to the max and also being able to capably use my Cayin N8ii with both as well.

Tuning I am undecided. I had the warm but detailed but it wasnt quite crispy clear enough for me….but the mid bass was the best I ever heard….which made them wonderful for most of my music. So do I go for the same tuning which is really good for most of my music….or do I go for a little bit more detail but lose some of what I loved best about the XTC-C…. Ah decisions decisions.
What are the obvious reasons to get rid of Kennertons? Everybody says they are legit.

The situation in Russia…. Bad news if it needs servicing. Kennerton is legit btw.

100%. Fantastic headphones. One of the biggest surprises I had this year! I can't wait to get my XTC on order though! Hoping to hear one at CanJam.

I have had two pairs of Kennerton headphones: the Gjallarhorn GH50 and the Rognir Planar. Both were great phones although I wasn't completely enamored with the tonal balance of either, the Gjallarhorn had a little too much warmth and darkness for me, while the RP had a couple of big suckouts in the midrange, leading to a hollow-sounding midrange. The problem now with Kennerton is that they don't have much representation in the US, Audio46 having a very limited offering. You can order directly from Kennerton but with the war in Ukraine the shipping is slow and expensive.

The positive result from knowing Kennerton is meeting JM who modifies Kennerton phones, hence my following him to JMAE and his great-sounding phones and exemplary customer service.

The war? Odd reason to get rid of great headphones from a great company that has nothing to do with it's government. I've always wished there were more reviews of Kennertons end game headphones.

The war is a huge reason to be wary of having a product that if you need support you're in trouble. I don't think it's odd at all I think it only makes sense. If you notice the classified listings it takes a lot longer to sell a Kennerton and they don't bring back what they used to specifically because of that war I'm sure.

It is unfortunate cuz they're good people there. And the headphone is fine product. But it makes a whole lot more sense to own quality headphone from a US company that I don't have to worry about any of that stuff. A whole lot more sense.

Also I've had to return Kennerton to Russia for service in the past. Even without a war that was a risky procedure lol.

Hey guys, I'm planning to sell my XTC2's (which I got from John in April of this year), and I figured I'd offer them to the group before posting in the classifieds section.

Here are the deets:

Brazillian blackwood
64 ohm beryllium
"Warm Defined Tight Bass with Defined Detail" tuning
Two upgraded cables: one 6.35mm copperhead and one XLR copperhead cable
A bunchhhhh of pads - including the new "Extra Thick Angled Leather" ones

PM me if interested!

Honestly I only have good things to say about my XTC2's.
If I had to sum them up in a few words it would be - tight articulate bass and an incredible spatial presentation.

BUT

Unfortunately my household is just too noisy for open backs, so I've been spending much more time with my IEM's lately for the added isolation.
...A pair of XTC2.5's (close backs) are likely in my future at some point!

Yep exactly this!

I had the Gjallarhorn JM Edition 2023 and since the first day that I had it in hand I noticed the bottom barrel on the right side was wiggling (cable input 3.5) and it was not coming disconnected but it still bothered me.

Kennerton basically told me I was beat and I did look up shipping alternatives (There are no major carriers shipping there at the moment -_-) and it was very very expensive coming from the NYC metro area.

JM offered to take a look at them and did so very diligently and even replaced the drivers. All this for $0 and he gave me 3 free sets of earpads and a free cable! Amazing service and I am probably going to buy an XTC from him soon (I have spent probably 30k in less then two years so I should cool it otherwise I would have already 🤣)

I have had some bad experiences with customer service in this space especially with higher priced items (weird right? you'd assume the opposite) so it makes me happy at the end of the day knowing I can buy with confidence and that he is a stand up guy. He called me during after I reached out initially and ontop of all this he is a really cool and personable dude who is super easy to work with in every regard.

If you plan on buying one I can assure you that you can buy with confidence knowing he is an honest guy who stands by his products and he didnt get anything or ask me for any $ from our interaction which surprised me.

Big ups JM, you're a good one.
