AK's closeout sale has Angie 1's at $800.

That's a $600 price differential between the $1400 Angie II's.
Is that price 'good' value for a 2.5 year old ~8 BA universal iem, or would you look at other models?

Angie II is substantially more ergonomic than version 1 (shell is a bit slimmer with better oriented nozzles).
Version 1 is bulky as hell and insert VERY deep, which is not very pleasant for a lot of people.

If I want IEMs to insert deep, custom IEMs will be much more confortable. Especially for 1400$.

Angie's treble is detailed and extends very far, but it's not exaggerated. They will reveal bad recordings/compression artifacts, but won't shove them into your face like most other "audiophile" earphones will do.

Mids are slightly enhanced, making the sound warmer and voices fuller. Angie makes voices really shine. The only issue with enhanced mids is that heavy tracks with several guitars and poor stereo image can sound unusually dense. Fortunately, Angie stops short of congestion, so detail and separation are still there.
