I need a new DAC and I am so pleased with the Atom I decided to try this new DAC from JDS. It seems to be a great value and a have a very good feeling towards the company. My Dad always said to be loyal to companies that have good customer service. I will let y’all know when I receive it and put it through it’s paces.

I've had their OL DAC for awhile. I bought it with just a USB input to test it with my Atom. I love the pairing. I considered buying the EL DAC and was curious if I'd hear differences. Now the question is if there's going to be an AUDIBLE difference between the OL DAC and latest EL DAC II. Also, if it's going to make a better pairing with the new EL Amp II compared to the Atom.

I am not familiar with the ol dac but I did read iElDacII has a chip set which is found in some much more expensive ones. The company is top notch and they will be on my list of the best values in the industry( not that anyone is going to listen to me) I asked them about if the pairing with the atom vs the El ampII and was told it was mostly cosmetic difference. Slightly less distortion and slightly more powerful but the gentlemen I spoke to was using the atom with the El Dac 1 .

The DAC just arrived via ups today, I hooked up to a McCormack udp1 , I have a choice between optical and toslink. Which one should I use? What do you think of a burn in period?
I think either would do. I personally prefer coaxical over toslink, but toslink can solve noise issues if you ever have that because it transfer over light.

I have the original EL Dac and love it. I'm looking to get a new dac and the EL Dac II is on my short list. The original pairs great with my new SMSL SP200 THX amp so I'm tempted to just get the EL Dac II and save some money since it's the cheapest dac I'm looking at getting.

So far I am ticked pink with the DAC. I think it has improved the system tremendously. Obviously the gear I have is dated and the digital circuitry has made leaps and bounds since it’s designed. Also having a separate power supplies are going to be a big improvement.

Wow I can't believe there isn't more about this DAC here at Head-Fi. I currently have the OL DAC in both my headphone and 2 channel loudspeaker setups, but I'm thinking about upgrading my DAC in my speaker system and the EL DAC II is one of the candidates.

Anyone else have more thoughts or impressions on this DAC compared to the others in this price range? Aune X8, Schiit Modius or Modi Multibit, Topping whatever, etc

Modius with Unison seems one of the most competitive honestly
