if you play the trumpet you should definitely check out Clifford Brown. He was a bop player that died in the 50's in a car accident. he had incredible chops. its hard to beleve anyone can play bop so cleanly on a trumpet.

I have a few of the Blue Note RVG remasters and have been quite impressed with them so far. Anyone here have Kind of Blue on SACD? (I believe there are 2 US editions, one Stereo Only, the other has Multi-Channel).

In addition to Kind of Blue and Birth of Cool, you may want to pick up Miles to go by Miles Davis. It's a tad more upbeat than the other two but still a good album.

don't miss out on some of Bill Bruford's jazz either. especiaal If Summer Had It's Ghost is great. he's a great drummer himself, with great taste, and he plays with very talented people.
