Just curious about people's thoughts regarding Japanese remastered CDs. I have quite a few - most being 80s rock and hair metal bands that mostly got recognized in Japan. I just picked up the Bon Jovi discography, as well as the DIO Japanese paper back series.
The DIO stuff is definitely bass heavy compared to the originals. Overall to my ears, they sound more crisp and lively. Overall clarity seems better as well. That being said, they can also come across as somewhat harsh and bright.
Is there something to this? Are these remasters essentially produced and engineered to please the Japanese community, and how they like their music to be presented? Some of them can be pretty expensive. Wondering if anyone believes the additional expense is worth it.
