for a balanced yet warm and musical sound with good bass kick and little leakage that's easy to drive for under 300$?

A900x's and Vmoda m80 have bad leakage.
I'm scared the shure 840 will be too revealing on poorly recorded indie tracks.

What to do?

I heard of the vmoda m100 and  LP2 are over-ears, so are they the same as the m80's but without the leaking?

Thanks in advance!

That doesn't match the D2000. Good bass kick: yes, but the overall frequency response is U-shaped with recessed mids. It offers little isolation.

I wouldn't describe the SHR840 as warm exactly, but it's much more balanced sounding than the D2000. Bass kick is present, and the isolation is excellent. I generally love warm sounding headphones (the K240 Studio is an old favorite of mine); the SHR840 has a slight cool tilt--a little emphasis on the upper-mids and lower treble--but I like it despite that. It's revealing but never quite crosses the line to harsh, so you might find it OK for questionably recorded stuff.

Neither of these is the perfect fit for you, but the 840 should be better.

I haven't heard the A900x or the v-moda.
