Itunes alternative: The Anapod Explorer

Is it just me or The Anapod Explorer seem like a realy bad name

Okay. I'm a freak. I have no problem with iTunes for Mac.

iPods can be picky enough even with compatible software. I think I'd be too nervous to use something second party....

Depends exactly why you are looking for an alternative really. I used Anapod for a while, but ended up using Xplay because it is simpler, nicer to use and much better integrated into XP. I wouldn't consider either an iTunes replacement in terms of a playback system or library management system though. On the other hand I much prefer Xplay to iTunes for uploading and multi-computer use.

I have tried most of the iPod managers out there, but always return to iTunes.

Agreed KR, but along the way I have had good reason to look elsewhere, and have been more satisfied than iTunes at those times.

For me, iTunes is still a bit of a compromise - it's just that I have now found other (slightly less favorable) ways around those prior issues, or decided that other iTunes benefits outweight what I am missing by using it. Shame in a way...

I find J River Media Center quite good. There is a freeware version too called J River Media Jukebox.
