Not pretty enough, too inexpensive by far and well, just makes too much sense for this to sell more than a few to the "suckers" who don't know any better

Your damn right that won't sell Rick, why would they when they just give them to you everytime you buy a new computer.I must have 20 of those things in a box in my closet.Your absolutely right though.Gary.

Only thing that comes with 14awg out of the box is power bars. Looks like a nice alternative to boutique choices. Given the stock 18awg performed better than the former Power Cord of the Year XLO Reference2... hmmm.

It was a joke Rick, they look like the ones you get with PC's.Let's hear what they sound like before we claim they make too much sense

These look identical to a 14 awg cable I picked up for $7... can't remember the place purchased from though, but I did find it searching this site.

Dude I knew that but I thought just possibly no one realised just how FAT that cord actually is !

Considering the wire in your walls is either 12/2 or 14/2 romex this would alleviate any possible choke point between the wall outlet and the gear it is attached to so other than it is ugly maybe THE best aftermarket AC cord I have come across.
I'm thinking I could probably strip off the ends, add some fancy "boutique" connectors and a Techflex cover then bump up the price to something like $150 per and they would be gobbled up but at $30 and looking like they do...well............read the thread title

I could have said 14 AWG but if you want to be technical I can do technical and most probably as good as any member of headfi if the mood hits me

You need to do the "new cover and new connectors " thing and make a financial killing but don't tell anyone what the guts are or it will be you that gets killed.
Secrecy in high end audio means exotic and "we want to be fooled" and plain just won't get it even if that plain is actually superior to the flashy.
We need the "look" or it won't fly

14 awg isnt that crazy, I think the current one I am using uses 14 awg or was it 12 awg? but its also terminated with green dot hospital connectors, not plastic molded.

No,it really isn't but what is crazy is finding an actual reasonably priced quality ready made AC cable that functionally should be as good as most out there even though it does look like a dog and so not "audio quality" goods.
I mean c'mon guys ! How good could it be for only $30 !!!!

I was once in the habit of stripping out the individual wires from 12/2 romex then braiding this ina lose PBJ type three wire braid then would attach hostpital grade plugs/connectors.
Not real ugly with the stadard house code wiring colors and performance was as good as any cables I ever used but man,if there is a harder cable to make i do not know about it !
NONE of the steps are easy from the initial stripping out the wires to the braiding to attaching the connectors and you want to talk about stiff ?

Hooking one of those babies up to my amps was like a damn wrestling match where just to get the damn thing to go where you wanted it and then lay flat a serious job better suited to a WWF performer and not me who is in no mood to play with such things once my fingers are all sore from the damn braiding process
