So I have a dilemma. For Christmas I was planning on getting my stepdad isolating headphones because he is now taking flights by-weekly, but my current budget is low. He is not a critical listener, and never will be, I am only looking for isolation here. My budget would hopefully be less than 60 usd, if I go over I know right now I will get him er6i, but is there any way to get isolation on the cheap? (I am not getting the mylarx3, can't wait for them to ship.) Would my best option be marshmallows with shure olive tips? Any other recs?

only thing i can think of is the cheaper er6i's, the im616's (recently $40).

canalphones like x3, ep630, cx300, marshmallows, etc all won't block out as much sound, but very well may be good enough. olives don't fit the marshmallows, unless myabe you stretch them. but regardless, it's the phone, not the tip that will be limiting isolation. also UE's don't isolate as well as shure's or ety's but sig better than canalphones
