And it wasn't too long ago that I watched his documentary "From Mozart to Mao" on PBS. Very good film that anyone studying classical music and/or string instruments should watch.

This is so sad.. He was SUCH a great violinist, especially when he was in his younger days..

I'm currently listening to his performance of the Dvorak Concerto, almost in tears.
I remember he was my very favourite violinist when I was a little kid.. I listened to his Humoresque by Dvorak oh so many times. I've always admired the man from since then.

The world has lost a truly excellent musician.

My favorite classical CD of all time is the SACD of Stern playing The Four Seasons. It also includes some amazing Vivaldi violin concerti.

I had to translate that story last weekend. I did not like it at all, you know. It's a great loss for mankind.
