Hello all,

So I downloaded NIN's "The Slip" in 24/96 .WAV, again. After reading a bit of the "iPad can play 24/96, iPod Touch can't" discussion in the portable rigs thread. Out of boredom, I played "Discipline", in iTunes ( On a Windows 7, Eee PC 1201N ), to my ( first gen ) uDAC to my POS 2.1 speakers. Odd thing.. it played.. perfectly.

This shouldn't have happened.. right?

Why not?
In Win (and in QuickTime) in the sound panel there is a setting for the sample rate.
If e.g. you DAC is limited to 16/48 you specify this limitation there.
All audio then will be resampled to 16/48  regardless of its native format.
BTW: check if your QuickTime setting match those od Win audio.
Otherwise the audio will be resampled twice.

Ah. I think it's being down sampled then. I hadn't thought of that before. Mainly because when I tried playing in Foobar2K (with asio), there was a window that would pop up saying it can't play the file because my hardware didn't support that bit rate and my uDAC only supports up to 16/44.

Thanks for the insight.
