trust me, i would have done that a long time ago if i could.

as i said, i need optical because of the crazy interference with my zhaolu.. and i dont have an optical port on my soundcard

yeah i can see how it works.. just takes the digital signal from the optical end and converts it to the signal that they use to send the data on the coax..

the only thing is, as you mentioned, is it decent?

I thought that since they use shielded cable it would be able to block your problem. The way the BJC describes the shielding as: providing three layers, two of foil bound together with polyester tape, and one of a dense tinned copper braid, for the best protection both against EMI and RFI. I thought it would block anything.
