I'm going to say... very likely the latter. Anyone else curious as to what in the heck this is? Portable mini headphone amp, FiiO E3 ,fits ipod, Zune - (eBay.ca item 330250225127 end time 13-Jul-08 08:45:52 EDT)

Yep, if you keep checking ebay, you can probably get one for ~12 CAD (1 pence + shipping).
