Just to defend Chris's choice of analog synth a little bit -- there's a purity of tone that only analog synthesizers can deliver, that, when reproduced accurately, can tell you a lot about your system.

I wasn't being entirely serious, because I don't really look to one particular instrument/sound when evaluating a particular system.

That said, I love analog synths to death, so I'm sticking to my choice.
