I have a Kindle Fire HD that I'm using at work, it has a Micro-HDMI (micro-D connector) output on it.  I'm wondering if there's a portable headphone amp / dac combo that will take this input?  Or is there an adapter that will give me a USB output?  I have an iBasso D7 that would be good to use, except it only takes USB input.

I think your more likely to get a output for the micro usb. I'm not sure that the Kindle supports micro usb out, try looking at radio shack and seeing if they have one. If they do I recommend buying the $1 version of it on eBay to make sure it works. Or just try to return a radioshack one.
