I just got an ATH-ESW10JPN as a loaner and I really like the sound signature of these cans. I was wondering if anyone here can tell which closed full-size Audio Technica can comes closest to the sound sig of the ESW10s? I really like the crispness and the "pureness" of the sound that the ESW10s provide but I want something bigger for home use. Do the W1000/W5000s share the same sound sig?

Hello.

The W5000 are VERY different compared to the ESW10JPN's. While the 10's are musical with plenty of bass without losing the top end, the W5's are way more analytical (read: cold) with less bass.

The W5000's are great but just not enjoyable for rock music as well as other genres for my tastes.

That being said, of all the AT's I own (see below) the ESW10JPN's are best matched with the W11JPN's.

Good luck!

From some early impressions in another thread, it seems the new A2000X has a character/signature like a full-sized ESW9/ESW10.
