Is There A Closed Alternative to K701?

I currently have the K701 and I absolutely love them. However, they leak too much sound and it disturbs my family when I listen to them. My primary musical tastes are melodic death metal, symphonic metal, goth metal, and 80s metal. I need something that isolates very well and leaks little to no sound.

I'm considering the following cans as a backup to my 701:
ATH-A900
DT770-80 ohm version
Proline 650 or 750

OR

Is there a closed can that isolates that can replace my K701 without sending me to the poorhouse?

Those might have to much bass compared to the K701, maybe the CD3000, which is supposed to be on the brighter side?

You might want to listen to less metal. Sorry, couldn't resist.

The K271s have the basic higher end AKG sound and are closed. In addition, the headphone stretch thingy activates a switch, so that when you take off the headphones, all sound to the phones is cut off. It's a headphone meant for vocal work in a studio, but it sounds tailor-made to your needs (if you like the sound that is).

I used to own A900, 770-80, and K271s - I'll vote for K271s. I regret letting my pair go and I'm sure I'll end up with another pair soon. Clear treble, tight bass (though some may consider lacking in quantity), and very, very nice midrange. Needs a decent amp to drive them, though.

A900's are really comfortable, but the wing mechanism of AT cans may bother you. They sound okay and doesn't need an amp, but had this weird 'honky' midrange that quickly got to me after I bought them (I bought them blind).

770/80 can be bit bass heavy and bright, and recessed midrange (slightly) doesn't do anything to help that. Another really comfortable can. I've been told the current version of 770's are miles better than the old version, but I haven't head them myself.

The Denon D2000 is very close sound-wise to the K701. The difference is sharper transient attack and stronger bass, but slightly darker. Very close overall, though. The soundstage of the D2000 is in between that of the HD650 and K701.

New Denon are soooooo good. For $300 they are a still.
You may find them not very isolating though.

Other than that I'd join K271S recommendations.

So it seems the D2000 is a good replacement for the K701. I don't like the idea of having more than 1 pair of moderately expensive headphones...seems like a waste to me. If the D2000 sound is similar to the K701 then I may have found my closed K701 replacement.

What are typical burn in times for the D2000?

They don't need much, 3 overnighters with pink noise were enough for mine to stop changing.
Watch for that bass though as it's quite a departure from K701.
