Is there any headphone that can be bought new for a similar price that represents a better value than the SR-225? I havent been keeping up with headphones lately.

Will be using it unamped for games, movies, music... anything at my GFs place.

Sennheiser HD580 (although used, because its not made anymore). Occasionally the Audio Technica AD900 can be found for that price.

If you can stomach their comfort level, they are certainly one of the front runners for value.
