Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows if the iBasso DX80 is an android based DAP as I'd like to be able to use steaming services, esp. Tidal, with whatever DAP I might purchase. Also if anyone has any other recommendations for an android based DAP thats sub-$500 besides the Fiio X7, Cayin i5, and the OPUS #1 I would love to hear your suggestions.

Thanks,
Sailor Sam

The iBasso DX80 uses proprietary software, and probably isn't based off android anyway. Two other recommendations are the Pioneer XDP-100R and if you don't mind importing, the Onkyo DP-X1.

I picked up the Pioneer XDP-100R for $400 from Amazon a couple weeks ago, and I've been very happy with it.

Another option is the Fiio X5 3rd gen, but I'm not sure on the actual release date:
