I'm looking to purchase a second DAP. Currently using an AK100ii.

I am interested in a DAP with:
Good battery life
Solid build quality
Simple user interface (preferably not Android based)
Sound signature that trends towards neutral
Stable firmware / not buggy
Dedicated line out
Physical buttons for play/pause/skip

If the dedicated line out is not a deal breaker, the Sony NW-A55 ticks your boxes. Also the Pioneer XDP-30R is a very, very good one, the LO is a software switch.

I understand your wanting to avoid Android, I also try to avoid it, so far successfully.
