I had the same experience replacing mine.I did not find them very difficult to replace. Just peel it off and stick on the new ones carefully. Was not too difficult to align and if you don't get it just right, you can lift off and try again. Only took me a few minutes.

Is the Aeon #padgate finally coming to an end?

So I ordered some new pads and I have been waiting since I placed my order on June 9th. The tracking info for USPS has not been updated since June 13th. Maybe they got lost in shipping. I'm in Canada but they should not take this long.

Hey guys I came up with a Pad Saver for the AEON series that will help with #padgate. The higher end DCAs like E3 come with one included, so I though I would make something similar for the lowly AEONs. Not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to my Etsy store... ?

I bought a used pair of Aeon 2 closed fitted with the perforated pads introduced with the Noire (I think?), and they have some rolled foam but frankly, the drivers don't touch my ears, the headphones seal well, and I'm OK with them not looking perfectly square.

Dude I've been to your Etsy store and been eying that pad block! I like it if only to prevent compression, as I said above the rolling doesn't upset me.
I intend to get another pair of DCA perforated pads only because when these start to flake I want to have a replacement ready. Now the only question is do I go with solid, perforated or the "NEW-NEW Noire X/Noire" pads that are $75 instead of $70... the material touching the side of the head looks different.

I might suggest the NoireX pads, which have a different internal construction that has solved the pad rolling issue.I bought a used pair of Aeon 2 closed fitted with the perforated pads introduced with the Noire (I think?), and they have some rolled foam but frankly, the drivers don't touch my ears, the headphones seal well, and I'm OK with them not looking perfectly square.

The issue had supposedly been fixed in New pads for the Noire... But not sure you will get those of you order from a place that has older stock

Im pretty sure the Noir X pads have different design/construction. I would ask Dan Clark if they are compatible before ordering them. That’s huge! Thanks for the info. It’s decided then, noire x pads ftw

Hard to recall exactly....but I think the Noire had perforated inside on the whole earcup, with NoireX looking like its just 1/2 perforated.
The NoireX are 100% guaranteed to have new internal construction, and maybe if you order from DCA then they also have new internal construction on the regular Noire pads too. @mrspeakers probably knows the scoop
NOIRE X pads are acoustically the same as the perforated original AEON 2/RT perforated pads, but add a suede top surface. All pads in inventory have the reduced roll so just pick whichever finish you prefer, the perforated pads are interchangeable.Hard to recall exactly....but I think the Noire had perforated inside on the whole earcup, with NoireX looking like its just 1/2 perforated.
