I am thinking of getting a portable amp\DAC from Fiio, and I have it down to the E17 or E7. My question is whether the SPDIF on the E17 will make any difference for my music, which is streamed from Spotify. Would I be better off by saving my money and buying the E17?

S/PDIF doesn't matter much, except for the fact that it supports higher sampling rate than USB. Spotify, to my knowledge, doesn't even stream lossless, let alone anything high sample rate. Also, most computers lack S/PDIF output. So if that is the only factor you are considering, go for the E7. Actually, the E07K is the newer model of the E7, same price with much better features, such as hardware EQ.
