Why not?
Using heavier variable compression rates you can fit everything same in it, even 32bit but will it sound better with all those lossy compressions!

Not even worth worrying about either way. Anything higher than 16-bit / 44.1 kHz has no relevancy to playback and offers no audible benefit. The only reason some high-res downloads, etc. sound different is because they came from a different master.
