is it worth using the beyer dt250 with a portable discman?

The 80ohm version would be 'acceptable' so long as you're not using an euro-crippled discman... the 250ohm version is reported to sound better, but for portable listening, with its increased impedance, is almost definetly a no-no, as the music would sound thin, quiet, and uninvolving (or - non existent, if using euro equipment!!)

i used a dt250-80 with an older discman which did not have a volume limiter & it worked well out of the headphone out & i also used the discman's line out & a portable headphone amp for better results. most pcdp models from the past few years have limiters & lack a line out & may or may not need an amp to push 80 ohm cans depending on your personal listening levels.
