Is it worth to buy DAC to my notebook ?

I want to spend 50 - 60 $ so in this price there are only Maya and SMSL. Both are similar price on polish allegro. On eBay SMSL is cheaper but Maya is even more expensive than on allegro, i will neither buy SMSL from allegro because on eBay it's cheaper nor i will buy it from eBay because i will have to wait about 15 days or more for delivery. I don't feel good when i think about buying in Poland something which is cheaper on eBay but on the other hand i don't wan't to wait. Maya seems like it's better to buy because i can buy it in Poland cheaper than on eBay and i will wait 2-3 days. Maybe im impatient but i don't know if Maya or SMSL is better for mp3 then i think i will order Maya because i will feel better buying in Poland something which is more expensive on eBay and don't have to wait that long.

I've just read that Maya u5 is not that good so i'm confused now.
I think i will order SMSL on allegro, it's a bit more expesive than on eBay but delivery will be much faster.
SMSL looks simplier than Maya, i think it can be better for stereo.

Choosing a cheapo - how about to try this one? Pretty good for he bargain price (personal experience). Can't you get it somewhere in Poland? It costs approx. 700CZK here.

Meridian Explorer is 300$ and  based on PCM5102, which has a 112dB dynamic range.
Sabre DAC is 42$ and is based on ESS9023, which also has a 112dB dynamic range - sounds fantastic!
I bought 3 of these...

112 Db dynamirc range it's on the white room from ESS laboratory , it needs a very carrefull implentation to achieve 112 dB dynamic range in real life . (ODAC is one of the based ESS9023 DAC dac come closest to ESS specs ) .

Some assembler only quote the "spec" from DAC manufacturers . Not how their build product perform .

The great thing about ES9023 is that it really doesn't require any complex implementation - it sounds great on a very simple board.
ES9023 includes digital filtering and output stage inside it, which makes the job pretty easy.

It is slightly better, at almost 4 times the price.
Also, ODAC can't drive the phones directly, Hifimediy pushes Hifiman HE-400 (not RE-400!) to a comfortable level.
I own both.

P.S. Don't pay too much attention to RMAA results from different users

I'd say get the safe sabre DAC. Many have bought and you know what you get. Shipping was pretty cheap to Sweden. However I bought the 16/48 version for use with my phone not that it should matter.

I also like the Hifimediy Sabre. Both my wife and I own one and we use it when listening to music at work. I think it has a great price / performance ratio.
