Now that I have a MicroDAC on the way, I'd like to leave my X-Fi soundcard in the PC for gaming and use the MicroDAC for music.

Anyone know if this is tricky to set up--or if switching back and forth is any kind of a problem? Never used an external DAC before, so I don't know if it's literally just plug and play and unplug if I want to go through the soundcard--or if I'll be installing some software to go along with the MicroDAC.

When you plug in your DAC it will likely be treated as a secondary audio device. All apps will use the x-fi by default and you will need to configure your music app to use the DAC if this is the case. That's how things have worked for me.
