Is it possible to IM (instant messaging) on Head-Fi? I know there is a buddy list system. If you can't, would you like to be able to IM on head-fi?
I think that would be totally kewl!

What would be the point? Why not just use something like AIM if you're so desperate to IM someone from Head-Fi?

You have to run 2 different programs and not everybody has aol. Chatting room with buddies is like having a party phone line...just a thought!

IM allows an informality which PM does not, if IM were an option ( for example, an imbeeded head-i IRC chatroom via some sort of applet) then that does not eliminate PM as a communication option, it simply adds another possibility, the other advantage with an IRC chatroom type scenario rahter than siomply pure im between 2 head fi users is the huge disscussion potential.

I for one would love to see a Head-Fi IRC channel. how many users would use ti thoguh, would eb the deciding factor in its success and longevity.

Yeah, something more like IRC free for all is much more to my liking as I'm more used to that having spent many years IRC'ing. IM simply doesn't hold much appeal for me but if that's what the great unwashed wants...

There used to be one, but it suffered from the same problems as many other irc channels . . . anyways, a few unofficial channels are still aboot. Just don't hold this site or jude liable if something goes down in em.

Think "personal chatroom".
