I wanna order a phone and new plan from cingular.com, but I can't seem to get a 1yr contract instead of 2. The only place that allows me to do it is letstalk.com, but I feel safer ordering from the official site. Is there a way? If not I could just call, but it takes a long time.

What phone are you getting? I know you can do a 1 year contract over the phone, or at WalMart stores, not sure online. I can't find the option for it anywhere.

I'm almost a 100% sure I'm getting a SE z520a. With a 2yr agreement it's free, but I'm not sure how it would be with a 1yr. The reason I want to get it from cingular is due to the recent z520a recall. As of a month ago I think, the replaced it with a less-faulty version. (same model though) I'm just assuming the cingular website would have the newer one, as opposed to other sites which may still have the old version.

Yeah, that'll be the day.

Anyways, phone looks good, I just replaced my Sony-Ericsson t637, it served me well for 18 months. Good phone, poor battery life though.

The Cingular site quotes 16.6 days standby time on the Z520A, so I was just commenting on it.

Don't mind me, I like to shoot off to random tangents from time to time. Did I mention I like pretzels?

what about mom & pop cell phone stores in your city? They usually have much better deals on phones.

Whoah, I didn't notice that. That kind of . . stinks. And everyone loves pretzels, it's the gift that keeps on giving.

There aren't any cingular stores round here . . I checked the nearest mall, and the price was higher than any of the online sites.

Did you end up getting the phone? I was over at my folks this weekend and my Dad has the phone you were considering. He likes it for the most part, his only complaint is the camera button on the side, he says he hits it almost every time getting the phone out of his pocket. Something to consider.

Not yet. I had to email the website a few times first, it took a bit. BTW, SE said the newer version they sent out after the recall supposedly doesn't suffer from the sensitive camera button. Not sure if it's fact though. On another note, have you seen the new SE models the showed today? Some of the phones (aesthetically) leave a bit to be desired . . . course, the features are nice. Too bad they won't be out til the second quarter.
