Oh and are the cans comfy for someone who wears glasses?

For me they are fine with glasses. I don't find any headphones giving me problems while wearing glasses. The DT-770 is a very comfortable headphone.

Yes they improve greatly when properly amped.

I would like to know If we are talking about the DT-770s 80 or 250 ohm and also what is the best match for my Onkyo TX-SR705A/V (latest firmware).

Thanks.

The topic refers to the 80 Ohm DT-770 which is what I own. I also own 250 Ohm DT-880 which are not easy to drive properly.

Just as a guess I'd figure the 80 Ohm being a better match for an AV receiver. I've never compared my Beyers with my Denon AVR.

Thanks for your reply.

What i am really trying to get at is iyo what is the best match for my A/V knowing that I want these headphones for playback for HD audio on BD/HD movies (Film). I am having a hard time finding very good headphones for my HT that will be used for several hours at a time. I run my three DVD-palyers to my A/V (HDMI 1.3a cat 2) and my A/V is set to source direct video out only to my Pioneer pro-150.

for 80 ohm headphones. you don'tneed an amp.

the dt770 for different years looks different. the 2005 version is supposed to have the most bass.

Are there different editions of the DT770's, like 2005, 2006, etc.? And how could I tell them apart?

Yes, there are four editions:
-DT770 consumer edition premiumline 2005 (250 ohm)
-DT770 Pro 80 ohm
-DT770 Pro 250 ohm
-DT770 M 80 ohm (designed for drummers)

The difference for the DT770 Pro's is shown on the phone itself, and the box.
The consumer edition has a completely different look.

No, not the consumer Premiumline edition 2005. That one has the best bass, certainly not the most.
The Pro 80 ohm and 250 ohm have the most bass (but not the best).

I have a pair of DT770 Pro 80ohms, not sure what year, but I purchased them earlier this year (2008) from Guitar Center. You don't NEED an amp to drive them, but they sure sound a hell of a lot better with an amp. For me, I just won't listen to them without one ... just not enjoyable, and I'm not near as picky as I use to be (I'm usually happy with a pair of KSC75s right out of the iPhone).

Went to Guitar Center yesterday to buy the DT 770/80...they told me beforehand that they would price match eBay but they changed their minds >.> Where could I find em, except eBay, for around 150? Thanks.
