I have compared a 5.5G 30Gb Ipod with my 2nd gen 8Gb Nano...
The line out on the 5.5G is noticeably stronger (volume wise) than the Nano's one... Also it seemed a tad clearer/better in SQ...

Anyone else can confirm this?

I didn't check if but I have swapped HD for FD dozens of times a don't remember a volume issue. There is a difference is the two reproductions. If you got real good equitpment and real clear, interconnects you will hear it. Actually the line out shouldn't have any volume because there is no amp in that line out. If there was there would be degradation form double amps. Are you using line out or headphone jack?

Looks like I've been misunderstood.
Equipment used is:
- 5.5G 80GB ipod video
- 2nd gen 8GB ipod nano
- Alo Jumbo Cryo lineout dock
- RSA The Hornet "M"
- Sennheiser HD650

The same reference songs are loaded onto both ipods.
The volume knob on the hornet is set to a fixed position.
When the same song is listened on the two ipods the 80gb has a stronger lineout, since the volume is higher in respect to the nano.
Also the SQ of the 80gb is slightly better than the Nano especially in the top and bottom end of the frequency spectrum: more defined highs and tighter/cleaner bass is what I'm hearing.

Yeah i feel the same thing. The Nano volume is weak.
