probably a dumb question, but would the GS1000 be seen as a logical upgrade from the K701?

Also, can the GS1000 be powered from an Ipod? (I realize it will sound WAY better with an amp, I just want to know if it will work in a pinch)

Not really. I own both and see them as distinctly different cans, each excellent on their own terms.

Second question: Nah, not really. I mean, yeah, you could plug them into an iPod. But, it would be a big waste of some good cans.

I would say it's a logical upgrade except the GS1000 has more bass than the K701. Good bass though, from what I have experienced and read
